How to make Peanut Butter Spider Cookies

Creating these spooktacular treats is such a fun process, and you’ll only need a few ingredients:

  • Peanut Butter: We recommend using 100% pure peanut butter, without added salt or sugar. You can use smooth or crunchy, or mix them.
  • Sugar: Sugar helps caramelise the cookies when they bake. You can use refined, white sugar or brown
  • Egg: An egg is the binding agent, holding your cookies together
  • Maltesers: As round chocolate balls with a crunchy filling, Maltesers are the perfect candy to make the spider bodies. You can use anything similar looking.
  • Melted Chocolate: Melted chocolate helps to draw the spider leg, we recommend melting chocolate as it’s easiest to spread
  • Edible Gel: To add that sinister touch, red or orange edible gel helps create the eyes of your little arachnids.

Once the cookies are baked, the ‘glue’ the Maltesers on top of the cookie using melted chocolate. Then draw 8 spider legs, add fiery eyes and you’re all set!

As Halloween night draws near, these Peanut Butter Spider Cookies are the perfect treat make. They embody the spirit of the season and the playful fright that we all secretly enjoy. Ingredients

Cookies

  • 240 g peanut butter (1 cup)
  • 100 g sugar (½ cup)
  • 1 egg

Spider decoration

  • ~80 g Maltesers (2 Maltesers per cookie)
  • ~50 g chocolate, melted
  • edible gel for fiery eyes

Instructions

  • Make the cookies: combine all ingredients in a bowl and whisk together until you have a solid mass. It may appear liquid at first, keep on mixing.
Shape 13-15 equally sized balls and place them on parchment paper. Use a fork to gently flatten them and give them the criss-cross pattern.
Bake for 10-15 minutes, they're done when they're golden. Let them cool before decorating
  • Attach the spider body: Once the cookies are fully cooled, make two dots with melted chocolate in the middle of the cookies to attach two Maltesers. Add one chocolate dot on one Malteser, so body is 'glued' together. Use a bit of pressure so it holds together.
  • Add legs and eyes: Use a pipe with a small opening (~ 1mm) to draw 8 legs with the melted chocolate. You can also use a plastic bag and cut open a small corner, or use a toothpick to draw.
Draw the fiery eyes on one Malteser, and you're left with the cutest spider cookies!
